6 Balloons, the forthcoming addiction drama movie on Netflix has set its first trailer out. Written and Directed by Marja-Lewis Ryan, starring Abhi Jacobson, Dave Franco, Tim Matheson and Jane Kaczmarek.
WHAT TRAILER WHIRLS AROUND?
Trailer portrays that the movie takes place over the course of one night where a woman (Abbi Jacobson) who drives across L.A. with her heroin addict brother (Dave Franco) helps him to search a detox cancer, with his 2 year old daughter in tow. A drug out Franco assuring his sister that he won’t use anymore. In a grim overhead shot moments later, Jacobson is caring for his children in a bathroom while Franco shoots up again in an adjacent toilet stall. The trailer comes to a quite alarming end, as Jacobson whispers a phrase, ‘it’s ok” repeatedly.
ACTOR’S ENDEAVOUR (DAVE FRANCO)!
Giving a glimpse of Franco’s most dramatic work yet, trailer clearly portrayed his dedication and hard work he did to perform the role at his best. “I was full-on depressed,” he said. “I remember at one point my wife [actress Alison Brie] saying, ‘You’re not yourself, you’re not fun to be around.’ And I was like, ‘I’m f—ing starving! What do you want from me?’ But on set I also wasn’t fun to be around. I wasn’t really interacting with anyone. I was in the corner by myself, miserable.”
Franco said this role is the first time in his career he’s ever gone deep into a character. Looking back, he’s glad he did it, but he also said it “scared the hell out of me.”
Franco said he got so obsessed with the transformation, he would look at pictures of how Christian Bale has changed his body for roles over the years as motivation.
“If he can do this 15 times I can do it once,” Franco said he would remind himself.
“The loneliness inside those dark moments is almost more crippling… not being able to talk about the things; not knowing where to talk,” Ryan says. “If this isn’t your story, then maybe you can gain a little empathy for people who are experiencing this. And if it is your story, hopefully, you can feel a little less lonely.”
