Avengers: Infinity War made our favourite superheroes turn into ash by Thanos and his Infinity Gauntlet. The fans were left to wonder that how possibly the perished superheroes could return in Avengers 4. The events of Ant-Man and the Wasp teased time travel concepts within the MCU, which director Peyton Reed may have confirmed ties into how Avengers 4 could revive heroes. His comments confirmed a very popular fan theory!
In the Ant-Man and the Wasp, Scott Lang shrinks down to explore the Quantum Realm, though he is warned to avoid time vortexes by Janet. These ‘Time Vortexes’ aren’t elaborated on, but they do give the confirmation that time travel is a possibility in the film’s reality being enough to confirm the popular time travel theories.
“Based on the science that we’ve set up in the first movie and this one, I won’t rule out the possibility,” Reed shared with The Huffington Post. “Because, again, we are dealing with a time vortex. That could happen.”
“I have to be careful here, as you well know,” Reed added, as he could not reveal anything more.
Infinity War ended with half of the Universe wiped out along with some of our favourite superheroes. But many of the characters who “died” would be appearing in multiple future MCU films immediately ignited theories about how they could survive.
The most popular theories were circling around time travel and with Peyton Reed adding the confirmation this seems to the way our superheroes will be revived.
One theory is that the heroes will be revived by magic, but with Doctor Strange having been killed, makes audiences wonder who could be powerful enough to cast such a spell.
With the magic door closed, Ant-Man and the Wasp hinted at a scientific door, the use of ‘Time Vortex’ to travel in time. It could go as follows –
Captain America: Civil War featured a sequence in which Tony Stark displayed technology that allowed him to re-live moments from his past, and maybe it’s application will be done in Avengers 4, in Avengers 4, Tony uses this device to look for clues about how Thanos could have been prevented from constructing the Infinity Gauntlet, travels to the Quantum Realm to find a time vortex, and goes back in time to stop Thanos for good.
Avengers 4 hits theatres on May 3, 2019.
