The aftermath of the Avengers: Infinity War has left Avengers in a fix and with one question with everyone – Where were some of the heroes like Ant-Man and The Wasp. While Ant-Man and The Wasp were not seen in the Infinity War, the upcoming standalone movie Ant-Man and the Wasp is set in the events in between the Infinity War and the Civil War.
While the events of the Civil War ended the Ant-Man and The Wasp film needs to answer many questions like where were Ant-Man and the Wasp in between the two movies and if Ant-Man and the Wasp were with the Avengers or not. But most importantly, the film is set before the events of the Avengers: Infinity War and as we didn’t see Ant-Man or the Wasp in the Infinity War and therefore it bears the burden of tying up the loose ends of the Infinity War. Also, there’s a more important question that needs to be answered – Where were the superhero duo in the Infinity War?
Peyton Reed opened up to the post-Civil War aspect of the movie and said – “We had to deal with the ramifications post-Civil War,” Reed said. “That was crucial to Scott and crucial to Hope. I mean, it is like, fundamental in how in the jumping off point about what’s going between the two of them at the start of this movie. Outside of that, what I’m pleased about is we’re free to tell sort of our freestanding story. Once we establish that as the leaping off point, this thing is going on over here.”
While this indicated that the film would be focusing on making a connection with the Civil War ending, he also answered questions on the burden that cinema carries for the post Infinity War aftermath, he said – “Of course, Scott Lang, Hope van Dyne, Hank Pym, and others are not immune to the effects of Thanos’ actions at the end of the most recent Avengers film. The film will stand on its own as all standalone Marvel films do but also carry the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s torch forward.” So, not telling much about the film and keeping the film under wraps, Reed assured that the film will answer all of the questions and will handle the burden of answering all the questions it is handed upon.
Finally summing up all the questions about the film Reed said – “With huge personal stakes and, and huge other stakes that are separate of what’s going on with Infinity War,” Reed said. “So that’s is something that was appealing to me is not to have to… We have enough stuff to track in this movie without having to sort of keep abreast of what’s going on in that.” With this Reed made sure to assure the fans that there is no aspect of the film which is unanswered, related to past or the future of the film in the MCU.
