Here is a good news to all the Apple users. Today, Apple celebrated World Emoji Day by announcing more than 70 new emoji characters. These emojis will be coming to iPhones, iPads, Apple Watch and Macs later this year as a part of OS update.
The new update will include emojis to represent redheads, people with grey hair, and no hair and many other varieties of skin tones. Alongside the human-focused emoji, Apple plans to drop new animals and food emojis including a parrot, a peacock, a lobster, a kangaroo, a moon cake, a mango, a cupcake, and a head of lettuce. These new emojis will bring more expression to Messages with a cold face, party face, pleading face and a face with hearts.
Every year since 2014, July 17 is celebrated as the World Emoji Day. It was started by Jeremey Burge, the London-based founder of Emojipedia. Apple claims that the new emoji designs created are based on approved characters in Unicode 11.0, created by the Unicode Consortium, the non-profit group that decides what and when new emojis will be adopted.
“As soon as you include people in any emoji set you’re going to have, rightly so, more people that wanting emojis that look like them,” Jeremy Burge, founder of Emojipedia said. “Those are always going to be the more popular, the inclusive ones. People want to express themselves. We like to be funny and we like to be empathetic,” he said. “It’s much more human to have emojis to send [texts] with” he added. Burge thinks people will be most excited about the new hair style options as there’s been an increased demand for more inclusive emojis.
