The DCTV Universe might be headed for a Crisis soon. In the Arrowverse upcoming Elseworlds crossover, The CW announced that LaMonica Garrett has been cast as Mar Novu. He is an extraterrestrial being of infinite power known as the Monitor.
The Monitor was an essential reason for the Crisis on Infinite Earths in the comics. The character was created by Marv Wolfman and George Perez in 1982’s The New Teen Titans #21. In the comics, he was responsible for the events that led to the Crisis on Earths. He is a living embodiment of the universe’s positive matter and is billions of years old. He is the natural enemy of the being of anti-matter named Anti-Monitor.
When the Anti-Monitor sent out an anti-matter wave to destroy the universe, the Monitor enlisted the heroes like Cyborg, Killer Frost, Firestar, Blue Beetle and Green Lantern for help. He thought of merging the multiverse into a single universe to make it strong enough to withstand the anti-matter wave. He was killed by a Harbinger who was affected by the Anti-Monitor. The Earth-1, Earth-2, Earth-4, Earth-S and Earth-X were shielded because of his death. After this when Anti-Monitor was defeated, the multiverse was combined to form a single universe. This universe consists of these five surviving universes.
LaMonica Garrett starred in the Designated Survivors. Apart from that, he has appeared in Sons of Anarchy and Black-ish. Now he will star in Arrowverse shows, including Supergirl, Arrow and The Flash as The Monitor. His past credits also include Transformers: Dark of the Moon, NCIS, Suits, The Game, Arrested Development and more.
