Viu, one of the leading Pan Asia OTT platform has released the trailer for their upcoming series, Banned. The new offering from Viu India is a musical comedy series that will revolve around four friends whose lives turned upside down because of the music video as they get entangled in political propaganda. Banned trailer offers a good glimpse into the series that looks to be a full filled ride. We are introduced to the major characters who are passionate about their music and want to make it big as a band. However, destiny takes a turn when a politician contesting for elections is enraged by the music video of the band which throws light on the anti-government sentiments however politician blames them of hurting feelings of people and spreading hatred in the community. The four of them are thrown behind the bars and then the politician starts using them for his own benefits. What follows is a musical journey full of high-quality youth-centric music with themes of rebellion, wherein the musicians live through the prison, trying to re-establish their image and secure their release.
It looks like with series like Banned Viu is able to capture and bring the current political situation of our country to the digital screen. It will be interesting to see are the makers able to maintain a proper balance between the comedic factor & social issues. The central plot of the Banned also has striking similarities to Farhan Akhtar starrer ‘Lucknow Central’ which was released a year back. The series stars actors namely Sahil Anand, Paresh Pahuja, Sheetal Thakur, Deepak Kalra, Zeishan Quadri, and Vivek Mushran in the lead roles. Apart from the interesting story, another highlight of the series is the involvement of famous singers and composers of the Bollywood.
