Hungama launched a new and its third Hindi original show, ‘BAR CODE’. It is a drama about two friends who enter the nightclub business together but let their differences and male egos take over their good sides. This not only affects their lives but also of the people around them.
Produced by Abhishek Pathak under the banner Panorama Studios – the production house behind blockbuster such as Pyar ka Punchnama, raid and more. Bar code is written and directed by Vignesh Shetty. This show stars Karan Wahi as Vicky, Akshay Oberoi as Sahil, Simran Kaur Mundi as Rhea and Parina Chopra as Minaz and also features some renowned faces such as Teena Singh, Rohan Khurana, Bharat Dabholkar and others. The show opens in a world where the two friends are already bitter rivals, running a nightclub each – Vibe (Sahil) and Rehab (Vicky), both doing anything to put each other down. Explained through a brief flashback, the show doesn’t waste time taking one through unnecessary details about their relationship prior to them parting ways. Their enmity is overpowering, not just for them but also for their respective girlfriends, Minaz and Rhea as well. Everyone around them be it in the personal sphere or the professional sphere can feel the heat of their hatred towards each other. (Bar Code Review)
Since the show is set in the backdrop of Mumbai city and each of the leading stars owns a nightclub, the show gives the audience a glimpse of Mumbai’s glittery nightlife. The intoxicated people have no idea about what is happening in the ‘personnel only’ areas of these extravagant nightclubs.
With only 10 episode of about 20 minutes of running time each, this show is able to capture the attention of the audience real quick. The best thing about this series is that it doesn’t have any dull moment. This show has been designed to give a movie like an experience and that adds to the overall impact. Apart from the storyline, music plays an important part in the series, the show’s tone is set by its title sequence track, ‘Gumrah Taare’. (Bar Code Review)
