After “Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger”, “ Westworld”, “Lucifer” and “Timeless” finished releasing their episodes, I have the feeling that no good investing TV shows started these last months. But don’t worry; here are some series that are being released in autumn of 2018. Five of them will be introduced in this article, so check below the Best TV Shows to watch Autumn 2018
Five TV Shows to watch Autumn 2018
This reboot of the classic fantasy show from the late 90s will come out in October 14, 2018. The story is similar to the original series: Three uneven sisters discover they are witches. Macy has the power of telekinesis, Mel can freeze time and Maggie has telepathic abilities. With the help of their guardian angel, they try to find out who killed their mother. Many fans of the original show are not particularly happy about this. Reasons of this are because they feel like this show doesn’t respect the original series and cast member as well as only uses the iconic title, but doesn’t include any original characters. With the CW producing this show, the same studio that made soap-opera-like shows like “Riverdale” as well as superhero-shows like “Supergirl” and “The Flash”, I just hope this series will not be full of too much over the top drama…
The first live-action show of the Teen Titans comics will come out sometime in late 2018. The protagonist is Robin, the sidekick of the infamous Batman, who is played by Brenton Thwaites. The trailer doesn’t show too much of the plotline, but it looks like a grim action series around the Titans, which include Starfire, Raven and Beast Boy. Even though the animated show about the characters was produced for children, this series seems like a more teenage version of the iconic DC heroes.
Nathan Fillion is back at a crime scene; this time not as a writer consultant, but as a real cop. After getting into a bank robbery, the forty-year-old John Nolan becomes the oldest rookie at the LAPD. Even though he is met with a lot of scepticism, thinking this new job is part of Nolan’s midlife crisis, he manages to keep up with the other rookies through determination and life experience. The pilot will come out on October 16, 2018.
A Discovery of Witches
This British show is based on the novel from 2011 of the same name by Deborah Harkness. Premiering on September 14 on Sky One, the historical-fantasy drama follows the witch Diana Bishop, who discovers a mysterious bewitched manuscript. To unravel the secrets, she is offered help by the vampire Matthew Clairmont. Teresa Palmer and Matthew Goode are playing the two main characters who, in the trailer, seem to have good chemistry. I imagine this series to be a bit like “The Vampire Diaries” or “Midnight Texas”. Since the author of the book is also the producer, it will be interesting if they manage to keep the story as similar and investing as possible.
In 2013 the concept of the Purge first became known to a cinema audience: Once a year all crime, including murder, is legal for 12 hours in a near-future America. The four movies in the horror thriller franchise depict how people from different social classes deal with this annual event.
On the 4th September 2018, a ten-episode season of the TV show of the same name will premiere. The series wants to comment on the violence in the world as well as tackle social issues by giving a deeper look at the characters than the film was able to do. Let’s find out if this show is any good in only a few days…
I hope you found a series you can look forward to this autumn!
