Netflix released the first trailer of Bird Box, its latest horror offering starring Sandra Bullock in the lead. The film has been adapted from The High Strung lead singer’s Josh Malerman’s post-apocalyptic novel of the same name.

The trailer revolves around the struggle of a single mother (Bullock) as she looks for ways in which she could guide herself and her children to safety, in a world threatened by an unseen adversary. Bird Box plays on the theme of enforced sensory handicap. In Bird Box, no one knows what the monster looks like, but anyone who does ends up killing themselves. Bullock is seen in the woods, blindfolded, pleading to someone or something not to take her children as an ominous bell rings.
A mysterious force overtakes most of the world’s population. People are faced with their worst fears and go mad when they come in contact with the force, leaving survivors to go into hiding to avoid seeing who, or what is causing the death and destruction. Facing the unknown, Sandra finds love, hope and a new beginning only for it to unravel. Later, she has to leave the safety net with her two children down a dangerous river to the one place left that is believed to offer sanctuary. In order to survive they under take a two day long journey, blindfolded.
The trailer proves that it is following the chilling atmosphere of the book, which seems to appear to keep it viewers hooked until the end. Bird Box is directed by Susanne Bier. Its cast include: Sarah Paulson, Danielle Macdonald, Trevante Rhodes, Jacki Weaver, Rosa Salazar and Lil Rel Howery. This film shall be screened on November 12, 2018.
