‘Breathe’ Episode 5 Review – Brilliant Storytelling Leaves You Gasping For Breath

Breathe is the Amazon Prime Video’s first significant show in India which has an intriguing plot. The first four episodes which were aired on January 26th focused on building the base of the story. The series is undoubtedly a dark one with some scenes in which you may find yourself gasping for breath. Both R. Madhavan and Amit Sadh gave a stellar performance with equally good backing from the supporting cast.

Each episode ends on a cliffhanger and leaves you wanting more. As first four episodes were released on the same day, so we were able to suppress that desperation. However, at the end of the fourth episode, it leaves you on edge however for next one you have to wait until 2nd Feb. It gives you a sleepless night thinking what will happen next.

The 5th episode is titled ‘Bad Fish‘ that begins with the scene where Danny(R. Madhavan) is in a serious condition and is being wheeled into the hospital. Soon after that gripping opening sequence starts, then the show takes you two weeks back where Kabir after finding that his ex-wife is the next target of Danny tries to tell her of impending danger. However, no one pays heed to his findings, and that leads to the immense frustration which you can feel in Sadh’s spectacular performance.

The director of the series, Mayank Sharma in this episode intricately shows the shift in the character of Madhavan. In various scenes, you can feel that Danny is slowly drifting towards the creepy side and you no more see him as a loving father. On the other hand, Kabir is getting closer to Danny. It only fuels the excitement and pumps the adrenaline of a viewer with anticipation of what will happen in the next scene.

The story doesn’t have any loose ends as each plot point is envisioned to the minute detail. The scenes, depicting research that Danny does to secure his next target adds more authenticity to the series. Also, we would especially like to mention one name, Alokanada Dasgupta, as he has created mesmerizing background score. The music takes you more in-depth of the scene and makes you cringe.

Overall the episode is well-developed one which takes story ahead and tries to showcase the tone shift that each character is going through. Maybe that’s why it is titled Bad fish pointing towards the character of Danny who is slowly descending to a much darker path. This one will surely leave you at the edge of your seat, and we are expecting a major twist in the upcoming episode. So stay tuned and we will update you regarding latest happenings.
