Call of Duty fans may be surprised after hearing franchise’s plan for 2020. As per Kotaku’s claims, Treyarch is making an early return in 2020 with Call of Duty Black Ops 5.
In a report, Kotaku stated that after seeing Raven and Sledgehammer games’ messy progress on Call of Duty 2020, Activision informed Treyarch to take charge of the development of COD 2020. Now, Raven and Sledgehammer games will act as a support studio for Treyarch in development of the Black Ops 5.
Campaign mode in Black Ops 5
In the latest installement of the Black Ops series, Treyarch decided to obliterate campaign mode and replaced it with a new battle royale mode, Blackout.
Now, from the Kotaku’s report, it appears that campaign mode is returning in Black Ops 5. Treyarch will incorporate some of Raven and Sledgehammer’s original work to transform their title’s campaign mode into campaign mode for Black Ops 5.
Raven and Sledgehammer were originally developing a campaign which takes place during the cold war. According to the sources, this setting will continue to be used for the campaign.
Despite massive success in early stages of Black Ops 4, Activision didn’t find the game’s revenue figures that much what they were expecting.
Activision executives are now considering implementing a free to play revenue model for Call of Duty titles. The company is likely to offer some free content to play in COD MW4.
Call of Duty 2020 on PS5
According to Kotaku, Call of Duty Black Ops 5 will be a cross-gen game. It will available on both next-gen and current-gen consoles. It is likely that Call of Duty 2020 will be one of the first games to be available for the PlayStation 5. PlayStation is will be released at a similar time of COD’s usual release date, November 2020.
