Dark Phoenix is the first attempt by Simon Kinberg to make the X-Men comic arc right. The first trailer to his attempt is out today. Fox made a smart move by rebooting the X-Men franchise by going back in time. The reboot stars James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender as Professor X and Magneto respectively. Apart from these two, he also gave other important roles too. One of them is Sophie Turner as Jean Grey. She is the star in Dark Phoenix after first appearing in X-Men Apocalypse. The studio is trying to again tell the Dark Phoenix saga. The Dark Phoenix Trailer dropped today. Check it out below!

The reboot gives them another chance to once again tell the story which was left in X-Men: The Last Stand. Unlike the last attempt being written by Kinberg, he is now directing too along with writing. Some fans were concerned when the movie got shifted to early 2019 because of the Dark Phoenix Reshoots. The additional filming and lack of marketing only made the leaked Dark Phoenix trailer more of a shock.

Sophie Turner was a guest on The Late Late Show with James Corden and brought the Dark Phoenix Trailer as she promised on her twitter:

Sophie Turneris understandably the focal point of the trailer, as Jean Grey younger days are contrasted by her current power state. But, since this is still an X-Men movie, there are several looks at the rest of the cast members as well. Check out the Dark Phoenix Trailer below:

Dark Phoenix delivers what you’d expect as per the first trailer. It gives out most of the story. The story is not only familiar to the comic book readers but also to those who remember X-Men The Last Stand. We get to see Jean Grey’s childhood time and her first meet with Charles Xavier. The familiarity of Jean Grey not being the first red-headed girl to come to his mansion continues. Charles keeps telling Mystique, played by Jennifer Lawrence, that he’s attempted to stabilize Jean’s powers. But this won’t last. A trip into space appears to unlock the Phoenix and sets Dark Phoenix on its path.

From there on, the further plot is only revealed. Jean goes to meet Magneto and seek help. The X-Men arrive in their brand new costumes and it looks like a battle is going to happen there on the mutant inhabited island which teases of a major death. Along with, a few glimpses at Jessica Chastain’s mysterious shapeshifting (possibly Skrull) character continue to fill out the trailer.

The trailer likely shows the first two acts of the movie and probably the third act is the part of the reshoots that has begun. The reshoots can explain, why didn’t they showed the full power of Phoenix and show just a glimpse. But there are still many things remaining yet to be revealed. Stay tuned for further updates related to the Dark Phoenix since the marketing has begun for the movie.
