In his latest article on “not blog post”, George R.R. Martin, creator, and author of A Song of Ice and Fire confirms that three Games of Thrones spinoffs are in work and are “moving forward nicely.”
Three Game of Thrones spinoffs are in work
“Oh, and speaking of television, don’t believe everything you read. Internet reports are notoriously unreliable,” Martin wrote. “We have had five different GAME OF THRONES successor shows in development (I mislike the term “spinoffs”) at HBO, and three of them are still moving forward nicely. The one I am not supposed to call THE LONG NIGHT will be shooting later this year, and two other shows remain in the script stage, but are edging closer. What are they about? I cannot say. But maybe some of you should pick up a copy of FIRE & BLOOD and come up with your own theories.”
George’s FIRE & BLOOD is set in 300 years before events of Game of Thrones which focuses on the history of the Targaryen family. It begins with the story of Aegon the Conqueror, creator of the Iron Throne.
THE LONG NIGHT is said to take place thousand years before the events of Game of Thrones and will tell about the origins of the White Walkers and history of the Stark family.
It will be interesting to see how this spinoff will fill the void after the conclusion of Game of Thrones.
