To apply for PAN Card in India, first of all, you need three documents, that is, Identity Proof, proof for date of birth, and at last, a document for address proof. 1. Identity proof documents – (proceed with anyone of mentioned)

  • Photo identity card, which is issued by the Central Government or State Government or a Public Sector Undertaking
  • Pensioner Card having the applicant’s photograph
  • Ex-servicemen Contributory Health Scheme photo card
  • Central Government Health Scheme Card
  • Certificate of identity in original signed by a Member of Parliament or Member of Legislative Assembly or Municipal Councillor or a Gazetted Officer, as the case may be
  • Bank certificate in original on letterhead from the branch (along with name and stamp of the issuing officer), also must contain duly attested photograph and bank account number of the applicant
  • Aadhaar card issued by the UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India)
  • Driving license
  • Passport

2. Proof for date of birth- (proceed with anyone of mentioned)

  • Pension payment order

#What’s the cost to apply for PAN card online?

To apply for PAN Card online, you will be charged. If you are an Indian citizen, it will cost Rs.115 to applying for a new PAN card and also around Rs. 5 as the additional charges for the online payment. How to apply for PAN card online Individual Category – Step-by-Step

 

1. Starting with the steps, first of all, you need to visit the official website which has been authorized for issuing the PAN card in India. There are two websites NSDL and UTIITSL, but in these steps, we will show you how to apply for PAN card on NSDL official website. 


 

2. Visit the link below, which will direct you to the application form of Online PAN application. Here, you need to select New PAN – Indian Citizen (Form 49A), if you have Indian citizenship or select New PAN – Foreign Citizen (Form 49AA). Also, you need to select the category of PAN card you need to apply, and as mentioned above, we are discussing the steps for the individual category, so simply select the Individual category.


 

3. Now, after selecting the category, you need to fill your personal details like name, date of birth, mobile number, etc, in the respective space, and after that enter the captcha code and click Submit to continue.

4. After this, you will be given three choices,  that is, to submit digitally through e-KYC & e-Sign, scan documents and upload them via e-sign and last is to physically submit the documents. Here, you can choose any of them according to your need, but we recommend to choose to authenticate via Aadhaar as with this you need not send any documents and the further procedure is simple, you will receive an OTP and at last, payment has to be done. But, if you need are supposed to choose other option, the procedure for that is also the same, only the document submission procedure is different.

5. If you choose the Adhaar option, in next step you need to enter all details such as Aadhaar number and all others that are asked in the respective boxes and click Next to continue.


 

6. After filling the Adhaar details, you need to fill up personal details that are asked in the application like the applicant’s name, date of birth, address, and others. After filling that, click Next to continue


 

7. Now if you are done with filling the contact details, next step is to deal with the AO code (Assessing Officer code) tab. In AO code tab, first of all, you will be given four choices at the starting and you need to select one of them, the four options are Indian Citizens, NRI and Foreign Citizens, Defence Employees, or Government Category. Select one that suits you and continue to fill other details on the same AO Code tab.


 

8. After selecting the suitable option from the four category, next you need to select the state and area of residence in the same AO Code tab.


 

9. After this, you need to select the category that applies precisely to you. For this, in a box below, you will be shown a full list of the AO Codes. All you need to do is scroll that list and look carefully for the categories that suit you the best. Here, you will find all the different categories that are available, like, government servants, private sector employees, for companies, non-salaried people, and many more, the list is long enough, you will find the category for you easily. But, If you are not sure about which category you fall under, we suggest you make it sure rather than filling wrong details, you should contact a CA to find out the category.  If you are sure, Click on the correct AO code, it’ll be auto-filled in the form above, and click Next to continue the procedure as you are done with the AO Codes section.


 

10. After the AO Codes section, next is the Documents details section, here you need to simply select and upload the documents in each of the categories of Identity Proof, Address Proof, and Date of Birth Proof. For uploading the scanned document, simply click on the Drop-Down menu under each category and fill in the required details, and then click Submit. 11. After submitting the required documents for the proof, you will be redirected to the payment section. Here, you will get the options for almost every usual online payment methods, simply choose one of many common to continue. And as we have already mentioned earlier, the fee taken for PAN card applications for Indian citizens is Rs.115 inclusive of all taxes. Also, a small additional amount of Rs. 5 is also taken, so the final amount for the fees, comes out to be Rs. 120 only.


 

12. And finally, after the payment has been done, you will be asked to authenticate via Aadhaar OTP, or submit documents via e-sign, or to physically send the documents to the NSDL office.

 

After this, you will also receive an email acknowledgment number from NSDL about your PAN Card application and your new PAN card will be couriered once the processing work for application gets a finish.
