We all use computer whether it’s for educational purpose or just to have some fun with games or watching saved videos. And like any other device problem may occur with the device for which you need to format the device. This is done, for many reasons, either by mistake or on purpose. But the data on your hard disk, USB drive or any other files can be recovered back. Here, we will about to discuss, the steps to recover deleted data from hard disk, pen drive or any other storage device.
We will use a software to recover deleted data, and the time taken to recover the deleted data totally depends on the quantity of the data, and also the type of data, like videos, music, document files, or any other. In my testing, the recovering the video data of 5 – 6 GB size from a USB drive took around 2 hours to recover. And it should be kept in mind, that not all the data can be recovered from a drive, data may get corrupt, if a lot of write and rewrite has been done on the drive. The probability of the recovering the latest deleted data is highest. But surely, need to check it out once, if the data means a lot.
How to recover deleted data from Hard Disk, Pen Drive, SD Card
STEP 1 –
The procedure to recover deleted data from Hard Disk or any other storage devices can be done using the software. In the following steps to recover deleted data from hard disk, I have also used a software like that. The software is called Recuva, and can be downloaded for free, and don’t worry about the size, it will hardly take 6MB only. You can search for it on google, or simply visit the link below, which will direct you to the Download page of the software.
STEP 2 –
After visiting the download page, simply tap on the Download option on the same page, on your browser, go to the downloads and tap on the recuva.exe file to start the installation.
STEP 3 –
After installing the Recuva application, open it. Firstly, the welcome window will appear, click on Next to continue to recover the deleted data.
STEP 4 –
Next is the selection of the file type, that you want to recover from the destination. Here, you will get the option like files, pictures, music, videos, documents, etc, you need to choose the option which is suitable for you, and it is necessary, as it will take lesser time to recover specifically the mentioned files. If you want to recover all the data, click on the first option, that is All Files.
STEP 5 –
Next is the selection of the location, where you want the software to scan the recoverable files. Here, in a new window, you will get a number of option to choose from, and here also you must select a destination to fasten the process and to make the recovering process more targeting. Simply choose the In A Specific Location option to browse the location. For example, I want to recover the files from my USB driver named “Pen Drive”, simply tap on OK and then Next.
STEP 6 –
Clicking Next will direct you the next window, here, simply hit Start to the start the scan to recover deleted files. Here, you will get the other option to Enable Deep Scan.
STEP 7 –
I recommend you to only turn ON this option only if you are unable to find the files on the first normal search. As the Deep Search will take a lot of time to search the files, maybe hours if you have a lot of data on your driver, and also depends on the data type, photos and documents will take a lesser time. But on the other hand, the probability to recover the deleted files increases with the Deep Search mode.
STEP 8 –
After this, you need to wait until the scanning of the files ends. And after scanning, the deleted files which can be recovered will be shown in the list. Here, the green dotted files are those which can be recovered completely, and the red dotted files are those which are corrupted and can’t be recovered completely.
STEP 9 –
Here, tick mark the files which you want to recover. The green dotted will be recovered completely, but you can still give the red dotted files a try, if important, in my testing even the red marked photos recovered completely. After selecting, simply click on Recover option, a new window will pop up, and here you need to browse the location where you want to store the recovered file. If you are recovering the data from hard disk, for example, Disk F, you must select another drive, Disk I to save that data. You must not set the location to the same, from where the data was recovered.
So, these are all the steps for, how to recover deleted data from Hard Disk, Pen Drive, SD Card. If you still facing any problems, feel free to ask in the comments section.
