Huawei is spending a lot of money in its R&D, technologies that have came from this department are proof of that. Earlier this month, the company announced GPU Turbo technology. Huawei said that this technology will significantly increase the graphics performance of a smartphone and thereby allowing the device to run more graphic intensive tasks without affecting the battery life remarkably. This update will rollout on the Huawei and its sub-brand Honor devices in the coming months (read more for further details).
What is GPU Turbo technology?
By using GPU Turbo technology, smartphones will be able to increase their graphics processing efficiency by 60% and reduce the SoC power consumption by upto 30%. Huawei said that it has been achieved by restructuring the traditional graphics framework at the lower level system and hardware-software optimization. It is definitely going to increase the performance of device in day to day usage while also saving the battery.
Eligible Devices and Schedule :
It can be seen in the image below that the Huawei P20, P20 Pro, Mate 10, Mate Pro and Mate RS will be receiving the update by August in regions like Europe, Russia, Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa. Whereas the P20 Lite users will get GPU Turbo update in September in all the markets mentioned above except Russia. Long story short, all the flagship devices will be getting this update in August and rest of the devices in the list will be getting it in either September or November depending on how old they are. Currently beta version is available for Huawei P20, P20 Pro and Honor 10 for testing.
