New Zealand Captain Kane Williamson is in a pretty great form as he has smashed his second double hundred in the first Test against Bangladesh. Now he is only seven points away from dethroning the Indian captain Virat Kohli from the top position of ICC Test rankings for batsmen.
According to New Zealand coach Gary Stead, Kane Williamson put a lot of hard work into perfecting the techniques which give him batting ooze on the cricket field.
Stead further adds: “I don’t think it is a big surprise that Kane is as good as he is if you see how hard he works and he’s done it from a very very young age as well. He has an insatiable appetite to bat and to hit balls and to keep getting better with his technique. He’s not a guy that rests on his laurels at all, and you wouldn’t be surprised [about his records] if you see his training.”
Stead is also aware of the fact that while most of the cricketing nations are polishing their ODI skills, New Zealand is playing test cricket. However, he said we are trying to be strong in every format that we play.
The appetite for runs is also not slowing down for Kohli, as today he scored 116 off 120 balls in an ODI match against Australia currently underway in Nagpur.
