Mary Poppins returns, The 53-year-old movie Mary Poppins is set to descend onto screens this year. Disney showed us a glimpse of it in the Oscars 2018 but it did not give us much information relating to the plot, the trailer showed Mary only at the end.

When the trailer began we saw Jack the Lamplighter helping Michael’s son to fly a kite and at a distance, Mary can be seen coming down from the sky with her umbrella. It ended with Michael and Jane recounting days of their childhood.

This really long-anticipated sequel has gathered up an extraordinary cast with Emily Blunt stepping into the shoes of magical nanny Mary Poppins herself and in the nick of the time, the original Mary Poppins Julie Andrews is cool with that.

“I was filled with a mixture of two emotions- I was obviously very excited, but I was also frozen with fear because, well, Mary herself is so iconic and Julie Andrew is so iconic too,” Blunt said of taking the role, later admitting that she found Mary “creepy”. Blunt feels that the return of Mary could not have been better timed.

The grown-up Jane and Michael Banks are portrayed by Emily Mortimer and Ben Whishaw. Meryl Streep will be appearing as Mary’s cousin Topsy while Hamilton will play a lamplighter Jack. Van Dyke himself will be back and will be playing Mr Dawes Jr. Well, known musician, Angela Lansbury has joined the phenomenon cast.  It is based on a screenplay written by Life of Pi famed writer David McGee and it is going to have a lot of musical numbers.
As the director, we have Rob Marshall who has a great experience with a number of musicals, some of his popular works are Chicago( for which he received the best director at Oscars), Nine etc.
