‘On Chesil Beach’, is an upcoming romantic and dramatic movie, based on a 2007 novel by British writer Ian McEwan. The novel was selected for the 2007 Booker Prize shortlist.
Filmed showcasing the beauty of Dorset seashore, at Chesil Beach.The movie stars Saoirse Ronan, Billy Howle, Anne-Marie Duff, Adrian Scarborough, Emily Watson, and Samuel West. Consisting of a beautiful Tagline, “this is how the entire course of a life can be changed: by doing nothing”.
Trailer portrays that story fences the drama based on a young couple of drastically different backgrounds in the summer of 1962. Following the pair through their extremely pleasant courtship, the film explores sex and the societal pressure that can accompany physical intimacy, leading to an awkward and fateful wedding night. The couple have just been married and are spending their honeymoon in a small hotel on the Dorset seashore, at Chesil Beach. The two are very much in love and one fine evening evening, both reverse upon their upbringing and the anticipation of their futures. Edward is sexually motivated and though intelligent , while Florence, bound by the social code of another era and having been sexually abused by her father, is terrified of sexual intimacy. Florence tries to mentally prepare herself for the inevitable fulfilment, but the thought of it continues to repulse her.
The drama explores Florence and Billy’s struggles with sex – Florence even uses a sex manual in the trailer – as they face up to the awkwardness of consummating their marriage. Then, an argument breaks out and they realise just how different they actually are.
Anticipating this movie to explore us more about how important it is to be patient and softspoken in love, in order to not regretting later for not respecting and handling the things properly, leading the relation to get worsen rather than well sustained.
The movie is all set to hit the theaters on 18th of May, 2018.
