Niantic has officially announced that Pokemon Go will not support the Apple Watch any further after July 1, 2019. This means the Apple Watch screen will no longer display any updates after 1st July 2019.
In their official blog post, Niantic explained this discontinuation and the reason for the change in the following words, “Adventure Sync allows Trainers the option of tracking their steps, earning Buddy Candy, and hatching Eggs in one mobile device rather than 2 separate devices, we want to focus on building Adventure Sync so that Trainers will no longer have to split their gameplay between 2 devices.”

If you are worried about how you can continue to track the distance, trainers can use the Adventure Sync feature and sync it with their fitness apps on their smartphones.
Apart from Pokemon Go, Niantic’s new game Wizards Unite will soon be released worldwide, but that game currently does not support the Adventure Sync. But we believe that the game will provide that option in the coming time as it also works on the same technical grounds as Pokemon Go, where trainers have to travel to places to perform in-game tasks.
