Qualcomm announces Snapdragon 850, processor for Windows

Qualcomm, one of the biggest mobile chip manufacturer is setting new benchmarks in the industry time and again. Last week, Qualcomm has introduced XR1, which was made particularly for Augmented reality and Virtual reality.

At Computex 2018, Qualcomm is yet again presenting Qualcomm Snapdragon 850 chip specifically for Mobile Compute Platform. The chip has been based on the motto of ” Always On, Always Connected PCs”. The company will be launching these chips with their partnership with Samsung.

The new 850 chip has been designed to support the smartphone features in the PC and to make you stay connected to LTE or Wi-Fi such that you can receive notifications on the go. It has a power efficient architecture which significantly increases the performance by up to 30 percent and provides three times greater AI performance from the last generation.

The device is also powered by X20 LTE technology offering the speed up to 1.2 gigabits per second of connectivity. The chip provides very good battery back, in normal working your laptop can easily last for up to 25 hours. It has larger cores 4 x Kryo 385 Gold processor running at a frequency of 2.95 GHz and smaller cores 4 x Kryo 835 Silver.

Kyungsik Choi, executive vice president and head of strategic marketing office, mobile communications business, Samsung Electronics stated that “At Samsung, we understand the unique needs of our consumers and aim to create new innovations to support their ‘on-the-go’ lifestyle.

The new mobile chips will be based on 10-nanometer technology for sleeker and more portable design for customers than the 14 nm technology. It also offers support of Adreno 630 GPU for great graphics performances.

These new chips will also provide an increment of graphics and great audio quality to enhance the experience of the users. It also offers support on-device experience for AI which means it can efficiently utilize the AI based apps and deliver better performance to the users.
