More RAM or better RAM ,are you moving right?.

Have you ever wonder which type of RAM a smartphone needs for better performance.Rams are of different type ,the quality of ram do matter a lot ,not only the Quantity you should always look for Quality.
SDRAM ( Synchronous DRAM ):
It is a generic name for various kinds of dynamic random access memory ( DRAM ) that are synchronized with the clock speed that the microprocessor is optimized for.
  • Voltage:- 3.3 volt ( too much power consuming )
  • Speed :-   66 MHz – 133 MHz ( very low speed in compare to DDR )
  • Modulus:- 168 pin DIMM ( dual in line memory module )
  • Release year:- 1993
  • Data strobes:- Two notches at the connector
  • Data Transfer Speed:- 0.8-1.3 GB/s
  • Succeeded by:- DDR
DDR ( Double Data Rate ):
Double data rate means the chip reads or writes two of data per click cycle. The DDR interface accomplishes this by reading and writing data or both the rising and falling edges of the clock signal.
DDR RAM
  • Voltage :- 2.4 volt ( power consumption but less than SDRAM )
  • Speed :- 100 MHz – 200 MHz
  • Modulus:- 184 pin DIMM
  • Release year:- 2002
  • Data strobes:- Single ended
  • Data Transfer Speed:- 2.1-3.2 GB/s
  • Succeeded by:- DDR2
DDR2 RAM:
  • Voltage:- Lower in comparison to DDR
  • Speed :- 200 MHz – 400 MHz
  • Modules :- 240 pin DIMM
  • Release year:- 2004
  • Data strobes:- Single ended or differential
  • Data Transfer Speed:- 4.2-6.4 GB/s
  • Succeeded by:- DDR3
 DDR3 RAM:
  • Voltage :- 1.5V ( Operates at comparatively lowest voltage )
  • Speed :- 400 MHz – 800 MHz
  • Modules :- 240 pin DIMM
  • Releasing year:- 2007
  • Data strobes:- Differential only
  • Data Transfer Speed:- 8.5-14.9 GB/s
  • Succeeded by:- DDR4
DDR4 RAM:
  •  Voltage :- 1.2 volts ( 40-50℅ power consumption)
  • Speed :- 1066 MHz – 1600 MHz
  • Releasing year:- 2014
  • Data Transfer Speed:- 17-21.3 GB/s
  • Succeeded by:- DDR5 SDRAM ( 2020 Estimated )

Conclusion:
There are different types of ram and all have different properties , so more in number doesn’t mean better the quality.
DDR 1 and DDR2 RAM are very rare nowadays you may not find these older rams in any of the devices. The DDR3 and DDR4 mostly used today in almost all the devices and ,yes DDR4 is much better than DDR3.so always choose the Quality of RAM and not Quantity.
