Finally the wait is over, Xiaomi announced three devices today : Redmi Note 5, Redmi Note 5 PRO and also introduced Mi LED Smart TV 4 (55). Manu Jain, global Vice President of Xiaomi and Managing Director of Xiaomi India started the event that was held in New Delhi, at 12pm and was broadcast live via YouTube. This is one more step for Xiaomi to set up there market in India, whereas it already holds the 1st position after beating Samsung, in the Smartphone market. Now, talking about the Redmi Note 5 PRO.



So, Xiaomi is in the trend of the year, which is the bezel-less display. Note 5 Pro features a 5.99 inches bezel-less display. The resolution of the 18:9 ratio display is 1080 x 2160 pixels. The pixel density is ~403 ppi with 16 Million colors. Now talking about the design, the 8.1 mm thick uni-metal body of new Note 5 Pro is similar as in Redmi Note 4, which looks premium. And the colors available for the device is Black, Gold, Rose Gold and Lake Blue.



Camera department of Redmi Note 5 and Pro version has upgraded a lot. We have also seen such a good camera performance in Mi A1 and now Redmi Note 5 is proving the same. The main weakness in the Redmi series is the camera, specially the low light performance. But Xiaomi is boasting about its upgraded camera performance. The rear camera setup comprises of dual sensors, 12MP (f/2.2) Sony IMX 486 + 5MP (f/2.0) Samsung sensor, with dual LED flash light to click portrait photos. Whereas the front camera is also a strong one, with 20MP Sony IMX 376 sensor having aperture of f/2.0 , with a flash light.

PORTRAIT SELFIES: Redmi Note 5 PRO will be using it’s dual rear camera setup for portrait photos, but there is a catch, the front camera setup also capable of taking Portrait Selfies. And all this is done with the help AI based computing, and Deep Machine Learning, as we have seen in the Google Pixel 2.

FACE UNLOCK: Xiaomi launched another feature, based on AI computing and Deep Machine Learning, first time in the Redmi series, it’s the Face Unlock. According to Xiaomi, it’s fast and unlocks in 500ms. It has to been that’s how well the face unlock works. The Face unlock will be available by the end of March via OTA.

BEAUTY 4.0 : Xiaomi introduced a new beautify feature. It not the traditional beauty feature, it has been optimised through the Deep Machine Learning specially for India.


The new Redmi Note 5 PRO will be running on Android 7.1.1 Nougat, with the support of MIUI 9 Global. The android is not the latest, but will be updated soon.
Under the hood, we have a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 Octa-Core processor clocked at 1.8 GHz, comes with support of KYRO 260 (semi custom processors based on ARM Cortex), which means Note 5 Pro will be having 50% more faster performance and 40% power consumption. The Note 5 Pro is supported with Aderno 509 GPU, coupled with LPDDR4 4/6 RAM.


Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro is powered with a non-removable Li-Po battery of 4000 mAh capacity. There is no information of fast charging by the company. The company hasn’t provided internal memory options like RAM, only 64 GB variant is available.


The new Redmi Note 5 Pro is available in two variants.

1. 6GB RAM + 64 GB Memory, priced at ₹16,999

2. 4GB RAM + 64 GB Memory, priced at ₹13,999

The new Redmi Note 5 will be available via flash sale starting at 12pm, 22nd February.
