While the S10 won’t be the first phone to feature an in-display fingerprint sensor but it definitely would be first one to have an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor. Ultrasonic fingerprint sensors use ultrasonic sound to produce a 3D image of the fingerprint. Basically, a transmitter sends out an ultrasonic pulse through the display and onto the finger, and the waves that bounce back are picked up by a sensor which can identify the unique details of the fingerprint. Sounds interesting, right?
