Sony Xperia XA2 Plus was announced in London. The phone sports a huge 23 MP rear camera sensor capable of recording 4K videos. It will be available for purchase in late August 2018.
The Sony Xperia XA2 Plus is the latest entry into the mid-range segment by Sony. The smartphone itself is quite beautiful and has a huge range of features. Xperia XA2 Plus features a 6-inch Full HD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. There is no notch. The screen has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for added protection.
At the processor front, the Xperia XA2 Plus features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 SoC along with 4-6 GB of RAM. The storage options include a 32 GB version and a 64 GB version, with expandable storage upto 400GB.
Addressing the elephant in the room, the phone has a gigantic 23 MP sensor. Moving away from the latest fad of including multiple cameras at the back, Sony believes a phone needs only one good sensor to produce great photos. The camera supports hybrid auto-focus, an 84 degree wide angle and 4K video recording. As for the front camera, there is a standard 8 MP camera with 120 degree wide angle.
Coming to other specs, the Xperia XA2 Plus features Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C support and Dual band Wi-Fi. The battery capacity is 3580 mAh and supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0.
The phone has really good specs and features. The processor may use some improvement but if Sony wants to place the phone into a bit more budget category, we totally accept the choice. As for the rest of the specs, they are quite good and if priced right, the phone will be a good value. Alas, Sony is not known for pricing its phone correctly. Let’s see what they end up doing.
