Since the release of Avengers: Endgame, many fans have been talking about some scenes which are questionable. Well, among those scenes is the scene when Thanos was beheaded by Thor early in the film. To this, the Avenger: Endgame’s writers have spoken up recently. Let’s find out what they said.

Avengers: Endgame-Why Thanos was killed, Explained by Writers

The scene of Thanos’ death happened when heroes discover the planet on which Thanos went after decimating half of the universe. The energy surge which happened due to a second snap by Thanos, to destroy the stones, led our heroes to him. Reaching there, Thor kept his promise and went for the head this time to kill Thanos.

This scene shocked the fans due to how bold and early on it was. It was like the movie is already over and the next 22 hours were going to be absurd as the villain was not there. To this, Avengers: Endgame writers, Cristopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, recently spoke to THR.

“Remember, he is omnipotent. He is omniscient. It is ridiculous how much power he has at the opening of the movie, so for a good solid three weeks, we are trying to figure out, what is movie two with a character with that much power? At one point, I think Trinh Tran, our executive producer, in frustration said, “God, I really wish we could just kill him.” We all went, “slow down. What does that mean? That’s interesting.” It’s absolutely within his character. When we asked, “Why would he let you?” Because he did what he wanted to do. It’s strong for him to do that. We’ve been at it a long time and that’s the kind of thing I beat myself up for not thinking of earlier. If I’m being consistent with his character, this is on the table.”

There is a possibility that Thanos thought all this through before dying. He may have known all this time that his past self will give heroes, a competition, for the prize. This will prove the “I am inevitable” quote that was used more than once in the film.

Do you think, killing Thanos that early was the right decision? Let us know in the comment section down below.
