The Flash Season 5 Episode 2 Review: Overall Expression
The Flash Season 5 Episode 2 is quite good and in fact, it is shocking. In the last 4 seasons of The Flash, no such emphasis on the main villain of the season has been given. In just two episodes, the show makers have given us many things about Cicada. The fact is that the Flash Season 5 is diving right into its new major villain. At this early stage, it is shocking to see so much of Cicada, played by Chris Klein. In just two weeks, Cicada has been seen claiming two metahumans, Gridlock and Block. Moreover, a face-off between the Team Flash and Cicada is also there in The Flash Season 5 episode 2.
Though we don’t know much about Cicada yet, seeing him in such a vulnerable state, in the start of the Flash season 5 episode 2, gives him that necessary aura of sympathy. Cicada proved himself a match for Team Flash, with his lightning dagger. More interesting than the major threat he poses, is the hint that he has some connection to Nora. They seem to recognize each other, as seen during the fight and at the end of the episode. This may suggest that Cicada can be from the future.
The Flash Season 5 Episode 2 Review: Barry and Nora Chemistry
Nora continues to be a fun element in the cast. The relationship between Nora and Barry is fun to watch. As the episodes go by, it is fun and positive to see the father-daughter relationship between Grant Gustin and Jessica Parker Kennedy. The Flash Season 5 Episode 2 shows many moments between The Flash and XS. The moments also include those in which Barry teaches Nora about various cool stuff speedsters can do(I know Maths is not fun, talking about supersonic punch and else). The great chemistry between Barry and Nora is the result of the breezy chemistry between Grant and Jessica in real life. She’s played as a slightly obnoxious, headstrong teenager, but lovable all the same. The most noticeable thing about Nora is the slang word she uses, “Shui!”.
The Flash Season 5 Episode 2 Review: Iris and Nora Chemistry
On the contrary to Barry and Nora’s chemistry, there is a lack of chemistry between Iris and Nora. It can be sensed that there is something which Nora is hiding either about her mother or their mother-daughter relationship. Also, it will be good if this is the case because she is one of the characters who seem to be ignored or underutilized. Parenthood isn’t coming nearly as quickly to her as it is Barry, and that makes for an interesting contrast.
The Flash Season 5 Episode 2 Review: Cisco Situation
Another thing in the Flash Season 5 Episode 2 is the Cisco’s situation. Cisco has been shown going through his breakup with Cynthia a.k.a. Gypsy. His way of handling this situation is a bit goofy romantic drama. But Carlos Valdes plays it in a way that you will not be able to stop yourself from feeling bad for Cisco.
The Flash Season 5 Episode 2 Review: Caitlin Situation
Another thing that is marked in The Flash season 5 is the situation of Caitlin’s father. As we got to know that Caitlin’s father is not dead, the search for him continues in the Flash Season 5 episode 2. But Caitlin is scared to search him or find the truth as she is scared to learn if her father is interested to keep her or not. Though I’m not that interested in the direction in which Caitlin’s arc is going so, no other comments.
The Flash Season 5 Episode 2 Review: Block Situation
This week’s villain, Block, played by Erin Cummings, didn’t have much depth to offer, just like Gridlock. Though unlike Gridlock, Cummings’ character as Block at least brought some energy to the role. To help it, there were her powers which were so interesting. Moreover, seeing a human body compressed into just a tiny cube of meat was just cool or should we say like Nora, “It was so Shui!”(Though I don’t really know the meaning of the word, lol).
The Flash Season 5 Episode 2 Villain: Cicada
Coming to the highlight of the Flash Season 5 Episode 2, the main villain of the series, Cicada. The villain has got the fame in just two weeks. The show makers are going fast in his introduction as in the second episode only, they revealed the real player behind Cicada. Moreover, the powers of his lightning bolt dagger are starting to be revealed. In the Flash season 5 episode 2, Cicada has been shown taking the life of Block. Moreover, the flashback of him killing Gridlock was also shown. In the case of Gridlock, the powers of Gridlock were first soaked by the dagger and then Cicada killed him with the same dagger.
Apart from killing metahumans, he also took on the Team Flash. Like Gridlock, he soaked the power of The Flash, The Vibe and The Elongated Man. He then beats the hell out of them. The nteresting point came when he was about to kill Barry with his Lightning Bolt Dagger. Just when he was about o do it, XS, Nora, came and screamed “Dad!”. Cicada seems to recognize her and got shooked. It seems like Cicada recognizes Nora from the future and for some reason, he stopped and went away. After these scenes, Nora also seems to recognize him.
What is the history(or future) between the two? Is Cicada from the future? Or is it something that Nora read from the Flash Museum. Moreover, what other powers to Cicada posses? All this will be disclosed in the next episode. This makes us to the last part of the review, The Flash Season 5 Episode 3 Spoilers.
The Flash Season 5 Episode 3 Spoilers
The Flash Season 5 Episode 3 is probably going to show the death of vibe i.e., Cisco. This can be proved by taking a look at the Title of episode 3. It is “Death Of Vibe”. As we all know, Vibe is none other than Cisco. If the Flash episode 3 is seriously going to show the vibe, dead, then it will break the heart of many fans as he was one of the key members and obviously the inventor in the Team Flash. How will this incident affect the Team Flash? Is this the result of Nora’s time travel? Well, it could be because not every part of the history is “soft” which can’t change the timeline. Let’s wait till the next episode arrives.
