The tech giant Google has scheduled an event on October 9 where it is expected to launch a number of products but the cornerstone for the event will be the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3XL devices. The other devices like the new PixelBook, Google Home Hub and a new Google Chromecast is also expected to debut at the launch event.
But a Reddit user named GroveStreetHomie got the unreleased Google Chromecast 3 by Best Buy due to some mistake. Below is what the GroveStreetHomie said:
I went to Best Buy earlier to pick up a Chromecast for my new TV, then I noticed the packaging and design was different from my first one. I thought it was just a design refresh taking queues from the Chromecast Ultra. Then when I was at the cashier, they couldn’t scan the item because it wasn’t in the system yet because the release date is on the 9th of October (Same day as the 2018 Google event) but I guess they put it out too early. But since I already had it in my hand and was the same price as the 2nd generation Chromecast, they let me have it under the old SKU.
The third-gen ChromeCast, unlike the previous gen, now comes with the matte finish, unlike glossy finish. And also, is slightly thicker than its predecessor and the HDMI cable now does not stick magnetically on the device, GroveStreetHomie added.
Additionally, the device still comes with the Micro USB port. However, the owner told that the device isn’t working yet. And will require the new Google Home app, that might be released on October 9. So stay tuned for more updates.
