Vivo NEX | Vivo Nex true bezel less display
After a plethora of leaks and rumours from months, Vivo Today has finally launched its concept phone the Vivo Apex as the Vivo NEX at a launch event in China. The main highlight of the smartphone is that it has a true bezel less display with No Notch and the front Camera Slides out from the Above.
Vivo NEX Specifications :
The smartphone is equipped with a 6.59-inch Super AMOLED Ultra FullView “Zero Screen” Display with a screen-to-body ratio of 91.24 percent with a resolution of 2316 x 1080 pixels. The phone is embedded with Screen SoundCasting Technology which means that speakers are integrated with the screen. Further, all the sensors on the device are hidden under the display.
Vivo NEX Cameras
￼As the smartphone has Zero bezel display, So to house the front camera Vivo had to come up with a unique idea to house the front-facing camera. And thus, this is one of the main highlights of the phone is that it comes with a pop-up front-facing camera. The 8-megapixel front-facing, when started, will make a sound to notify the user.
On the rear side, there’s a dual camera setup which consists of a 12-megapixel camera as the primary sensor which is Sony IMX363 sensor with 1.4μm pixels, f/1.8 aperture, and four-axis optical image stabilization and a 5-megapixel camera as the secondary sensor.
￼Vivo Game Engine ;
The smartphone comes with a Vivo Game Engine which is made in partnership with Tencent Games. It aims to provide an immersive gaming experience based on software and hardware optimization and is also optimised to run games made using Unreal Engine. Further, the Vivo NEX also comes with 7.1-channel 3D audio, thanks to dtsX partnership. It is also equipped with Vivo’s Hi-Fi V1 System In Package technology for hi-fi quality sound through earphones.
The Vivo NEX smartphone comes in three variants.
- The high-end model, monikered as Vivo NEX S, is housed by Qualcomm‘s Snapdragon 845 processor coupled with Adreno 630 GPU, 8GB RAM, and 256GB internal storage.
- The mid-end variant has the same specs as that of the highest-end model except for the internal storage as it packs 128GB storage.
- The cheapest variant among the three, which is named as Vivo NEX A, and is housed by Qualcomm’s recently launched Snapdragon 710SoC, coupled with 6GB RAM, and 128GB of internal storage.
All three models are backed up by a 4,000mAh battery. Not only this, the smartphone comes with a third-generation in-display fingerprint scanning technology as seen of the Vivo X21, which according to the company increases the screen unlock time by 10 percent and increases the overall experience of phone unlocking.
￼Vivo personal voice assistant — Jovi ;
The smartphones come with the company’s own personal voice assistant — Jovi, which under the hoods is powered by artificial intelligence technology. It supports several functionalities such as smart map reading, encyclopedia, shopping, translation, scanning, and screen recognition among others.
Jovi is based on the AI, so it will keep learning as you use it and the company will also roll out serval updates which increase the capability of the Jovi and the smartphone. To use the personal voice assistant Jovi there is a dedicated button. Vivo says that it has established AI joint laboratories with partners with an aim to provide a brand new user experience through AI intelligence.
The Vivo NEX comes with newly designed custom user interface dubbed as Energy UI, running on Android Oreo out of the box. Further, the device also comes with engine-level SDK optimization, HPUE technology antenna layout, and a zero-sensor cooling system.

- The Vivo NEX will be available in Diamond Black and Ruby Red colour variants.
- The high-end model with 8GB RAM is priced at 4,998 Yuan or $780
- The mid-range device costs 4,498 Yuan or $702.
- The cheapest variant with SD710 costs 3,898 Yuan or $609.
