What Makes The Character Of Munna Bhaiya (Divyenndu Sharma) Stand Out In Mirzapur, Amazon Prime Video Original

Divyenndu Sharma a.k.a ‘Munna Bhaiya’ from the Amazon Prime Video latest thriller series “Mirzapur” has done a great job in the series. Divyendu who started his career with Pyar Ka Punchnama has also done movies such as Toilet-Ek Prem Katha, chashme baddoor.

This time Divyenndu plans to surprise the audience by playing the hot-headed gangster Munna Tripathi. Munna, is the son of Mirzapur Don Kaleen Bhaiya (played by Pankaj Tripathi), is the evilest character in the series.

Munna may be an ‘in your face baddie’, but he is so because of certain circumstances and situations, which humanizes him. He is a complex person. He is royal born, with a silver spoon, but he wants a good relationship with his father. To seek validation from him, he goes around doing violent things. It all comes from the vacuum inside him. There are instances where people won’t be able to blame him. He is childlike in the way that he does not follow social norms. Besides being the evilest, he can also be called as pure but troubled soul.

His metamorphosis from a powerful but brainless baddie to a strategic villain is quite commendable. Initially, he is shown as an immature son of the powerful Kaleen Bhaiya who is uselessly hitting, shooting people just to show off his power but gradually due to circumstances and situations he is eventually turned into a proper genius villain.

The incident that entirely shakes him is the death of his only loyal friend ‘compounder’ who he has to kill with his own hands because the circumstances had turned out to be so. It is during this that the change of event takes place for Munna Bhaiya, he completely changes and plans a strategy to counter ‘Guddu and Bablu’, he also succeeds in this strategy.

Munna Bhaiya

From the very starting, nothing in favour of Munna Bhaiya apart from the fact that he is the son of the ruler of Mirzapur “Kaleen Bhaiya”. His mother dies when he was young, his father thinks he is not yet ready for handling the family business, in front of him his father gives more importance to Guddu and Bablu Pandit, his father insults him and once also hits him in front of Guddu and Bablu, he has also been slapped by Mantriji in the presence of his father and many other and to put cherry on the cake, the only girl he loved wholeheartedly, Sweetie married his rival, Guddu Pandit.

These were some of the incidents that made Munna Bhaiya, who he had become by the end of the series. Divyenndu Sharma has done a brilliant job in portraying the character of Munna Bhaiya and it was a pleasure watching him in the entire series.
