A leaked Xiaomi poster had revealed that the Mi 8 Explorer Edition would go on sale for the first time in China on July 24. However, the information turned out to be inaccurate as the smartphone did not go on sale this Tuesday. Xiaomi Mi 8 Exlorer Edition was announced alongside the Mi 8 and Mi 8SE. While the other models have been on sale since their launch on May 31, the Explorer Edition will go on sale by the end of this month on July 30. This news was confirmed officially by Xiaomi on Weibo.
Mi 8 Explorer Edition features a translucent glass back which shows the internal components in a beautiful way. The device doesn’t feature a fingerprint sensor at the back instead, the Mi 8 Explorer Edition has an on-screen fingerprint reader that enables users to unlock the phone by a simple touch. The display is equipped with a highly sensitive pressure sensor, so with just a light touch the fingerprint is scanned and the device unlocked. The device supports Face ID and also onboard is a Snapdragon 845 chipset. It also features one of the best smartphone camera as suggested by the DxoMark score of its rear camera. It scores a whopping 99 score in DxoMark benchmarks. Design wise it looks exactly like Apple’s Iphone X from the front (except that it has a bit bigger chin as compared to Iphone X).
