Xiaomi, one of biggest mobile phone manufacturing company in Indian Market, will be introducing its all new feature packed product Xiaomi MI 8 on 31 May 2018, through its annual product launch event. The event is going to be held at Shenzhen, China. As confirmed by Mr. Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi, they will be launching its other products like MI Band 3 fitness tracker along with MI 8.
You might be thinking why Xiaomi is releasing MI 8 instead of MI 7 after last year’s MI6. In past, Xiaomi had shared a new picture that has a huge number 7 written on it through its official Weibo page, in which below the number 7, it reads MI 8. Because of massive improvement in the features over its predecessor MI6, it was opted to skip number 7. Also, the launch of the new flagship is also coinciding with the company’s 8th anniversary, so maybe Xiaomi wants to mark the anniversary by naming the upcoming flagship as the MI 8.

Fortunately, before its official launch, there have been various leaks regarding this upcoming flagship from Xiaomi. According to leaks, MI8 will be equipped with onscreen fingerprint scanner. Xiaomi MI 8 will be powered by the Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 845 processor along with 6 GB and 8 GB RAM for base and high end variant respectively and 64 GB / 128 GB / 256 GB of native storage. Coming to its display, MI 8 will be having a 6.2 inches FHD+ OLED display with 18:9 aspect ratio. Similar to iPhone X, the display of MI 8 is going to have a notch in the front. Speaking of similarities with iPhone X, MI 8 will also be having 3D face recognition feature (1st Android phone to do so) and similar dual camera alignment on rear. The device has dual camera setup at rear end having an aperture f/1.7 with 20 MP sensor along with the support of 16 MP sensor having aperture f/2.0
This Xiaomi flagship is said to provide the best camera experience to users so far. This phone could support a 3300 mAh battery with QUALCOMM’s quick charge 4.0+ technology being able to charge from 0 to 50 per cent in just 15 minutes. Also, the phone is rumoured to have a semi-transparent back panel. The phone will be running on Android 8.1 Oreo and with all new MIUI 10 that will make an appearance along with MI 8. Other leaked specs of MI 8 include USB type C port, dual sim support. Sadly the MI 8 is likely to exclude beloved 3.5mm audio jack.
